The OLAS Foundation Scholarship is awarded to a student/surfer with an outstanding public service record in South Santa Barbara County, including Carpinteria. This scholarship is administered through the Groundswell Society in conjunction with the OLAS Foundation. Scholarship funds are remitted directly to the college/university to be attended by the student in keeping with IRS guidelines regarding non-profit organizations.
The OLAS Foundation is dedicated to providing youth with Outdoor Leadership, Adventure, and Service Opportunities. The Foundation was founded in 2019 by women’s surfing champion Mary Osborne and surfing community leader Karon Pardue. They have established opportunities for public service for high school students that involve community benefit activities in Santa Barbara and Ventura County as well as special efforts in Mexico, El Salvador, and Vietnam to benefit coastal communities and youth groups.
